CLIENT AND PIPELINE MANAGEMENT

C

Total Duration: 12 Weeks

Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 5:30pm

Our Sales and Business Development Team work to increase our pipeline of potential new work either with new clients or our existing repeat clients. You will gain experience in the management of the Corplex pipeline by working with the Business Development Managers to identify and meet potential and existing client expectations in response to Request for Quotations or Expressions of Interest.

It is very important to gain skills in how to deal with and liaise with clients, as client satisfaction is Corplex’s number one business goal. Satisfied clients strengthen our reputation and ensure our future growth potential.

By helping the BDM’s with their Tendering Projects, you will gain an insight in to how Corplex deals with our clients and how we manage our Business Growth Strategy. With this experience, you will be able to subsequently deal with current clients on Construction or other Projects which you may be involved in.

One of the main outcomes of this Module is that you will be able to identify and adapt to the varying types of client that Corplex works with. These different experiences will give you a more rounded foundation to deal with all clients and other stakeholders that will invariably differ from one another.

Furthermore, you will be required to work with the BDM’s to formulate sales and business related documents including Request for Quotation Packs, Head Contracts, Client Meeting Minutes and Project Brief documents.

Lastly, you will work closely with the Marketing Manager to complete past Project Case Studies, meet with clients and complete the Client Satisfaction Survey and ensure that a schedule is kept so past clients can be contacted to ensure their continued satisfaction through the defects period.

Upon completion you will be familiar with the fundamental aspects of Construction Marketing and the practices Corplex adopts to ensure we remain in contact with our past clients, understand their feedback and continue to foster our client relationships.

Tenders and Quotes

There are two aspects to the Tender and Quotations Process at Corplex- Tendering and Quotations provided to potential clients who are looking for a Construction Company to complete their works and Tendering and Quotations required throughout the lifetime of a project from service providers and contractors.

One of the most important stages of a Corplex Construction Project is the Tender and Quotation stage for a potential or existing client. It is at this point that Corplex establishes its professional nature, gains the client’s trust and puts forward the Project outline that forms the Request for Tender or Expression of Interest document that is submitted to a potential client.

As well as this, throughout the Project lifetime, the Project Team undergoes several stages of gathering quotes and tendering for works to be completed to Corplex preferred contractors.

In both instances, the Client or Project’s requirements are established and communicated either in a Request for Quotation document or in a Scope of Works document.

You will gain experience in assisting the Business Development Manager collate required information in order to submit a Request for Quotation to a potential client. You will experience working with the Client and the BDM to establish the client brief and use this to form the Specifications Document that will form part of the Request for Quotation pack that is put forth to the client in order to gain their business.

In addition you will gain insight and knowledge in the Construction Contract, and in participating in feasibility studies along side the Business Development Manager.

Estimating

All Corplex Projects begin with an estimation of the Project Financial Budget. Planning the budget and calculating the financial costs of a Project requires a thorough understanding of the Project requirements and the Scope of Works required in order to undertake the Project and complete it to exceed client and stakeholder expectations.

The Estimating Module will help you gain experience and understanding in financial planning for a Project before it even begins and also during the Project’s lifetime.  It is an important skill in order to be able to assist the Project Team to deliver the Project in line with the Corplex Business Strategy.

You will be required to complete Project Financial Estimations by;

  • Completing take offs and a Bill of Quantities that will give insight in to the Scope of Works required to complete the Project. For example, you will be required to physically measure from Design Documents the area, quantity or other unit of materials or services required for each element of the Project.

  • Completing a Project Costs Spreadsheet, which identifies, records and quantifies the Project’s Scope of Works to ascertain a final Project Budget that can then be used throughout the lifetime of the Project to monitor the financial health of the Project in line with the Business Strategy each Project Team is working towards.

  • Working with the Project Team (Project Manager, Site Manager and Project Coordinator, as well as the Account Manager and Business Development Manager) to forecast future or upcoming financial costs so that the Project continues to meet expectations, and is continuously monitored for cost overruns so that the Project Team can implement strategies to overcome or mitigate any potential financial risks.

  • Completing Project Scope of Works analysis throughout the Project lifetime between competing contractors who are tendering for the completion of the works. This will help ensure that each contractor who is employed to do the works has a thorough understanding of the Project Team’s expectations and the Project’s requirements. This will require monitoring of the Scope of Works against any design amendments, which may affect the original Budgeted Scope of Works.

  • Completing Design Reviews of the design documentation so that design amendments are taken in to consideration against the original Budget to ensure that any changes do not adversely affect the financial wellbeing of the Project.

As well as the above, it is expected that you will gain experience and insight in to how to predict and mitigate potential cost or financial risks when completing estimation of a Project. This will help you ‘think outside the box’ when making considerations for a Project at its infant stage- questions like ‘is the way this is designed the most cost effective outcome?’ should be front and centre when completing estimation of a Project’s financial costs.
