SITE MANAGEMENT

A successfully executed project relies heavily on the effective coordination and management of site day-to-day activities. For this reason, Corplex believes that a project management team that understands the processes, procedures and general requirements of managing a project site, is at an advantage of successfully executing a project on time and on budget.

This module has been designed to help you develop your understanding by:

  • allowing you to participate in managing day to day activities alongside the Site Manager;

  • participating in the induction of all plant, equipment and subcontractors;

  • participating in managing OH&S requirements; and

  • participating in site meetings with clients, site managers, project team members and contractors.

What happens on our sites?

The hustle and bustle on site starts early! Workers can arrive as early as 5:30 am. A typical start of the day begins with planning. This involves a discussion of the health and safety measures required to undergo the day’s tasks (i.e. wearing appropriate protective clothing for particular hazards). Afterwards, workers will change into their work clothes which include hi-visibility jackets, hard helmets, work boots, safety goggles, and gloves. Now, once there is enough natural light to see safely, it’s time to start working!

Construction work is highly risky. For example, an object may fall from above causing serious injury, a heavy plant machine may collide with a worker, or a worker may get caught in a trench or excavation. For this reason, it is crucial for all site workers to adhere to the health and safety procedures and site processes and procedures so that the project can be safely executed throughout its lifetime.

Now when construction work finally gets underway, there could be numerous jobs taking place simultaneously. With an experienced site manager to oversee and manage the day’s tasks, so the progress of the site remains on track. For this reason, you will work closely with the site manager. As this will develop your understanding of how a construction site is set-up, and managed on a day-to-day basis.
